Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I'm a 20-something home school graduate, runner, writer, and stylist and I love sharing my adventures in cooking, working, exercising, creating a home for me and my two kitties and my attempt to balance it all! The antiquated home schooling movement of the 1990's did not prepare me for how hard this is! Thus, this is my attempt at modern homemaking.

My Daily Makeup Essentials

My Daily Makeup Essentials

Lately I've been getting a lot of comments on my Instagram account about my makeup, so I decided to take a minute to talk about some of my favorite products!

It's taken me a long time (like probably the last year!) to really nail down a system that I liked. But lately I have a good success rate in the mornings. My BB cream really made a difference!

With the exception of the Urban Decay Illuminated Trio (which I got from a coworker - who got it free from her job at Ulta haha), all the items I use are drugstore brands, and under $13.

1. E.L.F. Clay Eyeshadow Palette in Necessary Nudes - $6  2. Essence Make Me Brow in Soft Browny Browns - $2.99   3. NYX BB Cream - $10 on Amazon   4. Essence Long-Lasting Eye Pencil in Hot Chocolate - $2.50   5. NYX Dark Circle Color Correcteur in Fair - $6   6. Wet N Wild PhotoFocus Concealer in deep tan   7. E.L.F Ultimate Blending Brush - $6   8. Essence Get BIG! Lashes Volume Curl Mascara - $8   9. Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Pressed Powder   10. Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio - $35   11. NYX Gottcha Covered Concealer in Ivory - $6   12. Wet n Wild MegaGlow Makeup Stick in Highlighter

So this is what I use for my everyday look. I used to use a lot of higher end makeup, but that just got so expensive! So now I look for high quality drugstore brands and things that can work double-time. So I use one of the concealers to prime my eyelids, and finish my eyes before I do my face so I have a chance to clean up any smudged eyeshadow or loose powder on my cheeks.

After applying the BB cream and under eye concealer I use the remaining concealers to contour. I pay extra attention to the hollows of my cheeks (I'm told that at 25 my cheekbones should finally grow in). Then I set everything with the translucent powder and Urban Decay Illuminating Trio

Sadly, the highlighting portion of the trio shattered - which is why I use the Wet n Wild Makeup Stick to highlight my noes, chin, upper lip, eyebrow arch, forehead and cheek bones.

After that it's just a matter of a little eyebrow cream, eyeliner and mascara. Oh, and of course lipstick! But There's so much I have to say on that subject that I'll save that for another post.

Well, hopefully this post helps! If you have any questions leave me a comment and I'll try to answer it!
