Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I'm a 20-something home school graduate, runner, writer, and stylist and I love sharing my adventures in cooking, working, exercising, creating a home for me and my two kitties and my attempt to balance it all! The antiquated home schooling movement of the 1990's did not prepare me for how hard this is! Thus, this is my attempt at modern homemaking.

Spring Fun Runs || 12 Races in 12 Months

Spring Fun Runs || 12 Races in 12 Months

Hey y'all! So at the beginning of the year I set out with a goal to complete 12 races in 12 months. Due to my retail life, I decided to allow virtual races to count since I wasn't sure I'd always be have a weekend free to complete a race.

My first race of the year was the Surf City Half Marathon, followed shortly by the Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody 5k, the Umbridge 13k (or until it sinks in), and then I completed two fun runs with my little sister!

The first family 5k was the Six Flags blacklight run. I've always wanted to do a color run and I missed the color run in Six Flags last year, so I wasn't going to let this one slip by! I registered all the way back in February and I'm so glad I made it a priority, because it was a blast! I had wanted to make a white tutu to wear, but time got away from me.

Our time was definitely slower because I was running with my fifteen year old sister, and because we were taking time to look at everything we were running past and enjoying getting covered in colors! After the race there was a great after party (see photo below) and time to ride some of the roller coasters!

The next race we did was the Every Kid Needs a Superhero 5k for the Kenosha Boys and Girls Club. We decided to dress as Captain America and Bucky Barnes (since obviously Captain America is my favorite Avenger/Superhero). I bought this gorgeous Captain America running skirt from Running Couture, socks from Target and I bought this headband way back when at the Surf City Running expo.

I bought this gorgeous Captain America running skirt from Running Couture, socks from Target and I bought this headband way back when at the Surf City Running expo. I had a different tank picked out but after some complications I ended up with just a solid blue tank from Walmart. Oh well! I have a 10k coming up on July 2nd, and I plan on wearing the same costume but with the Captain America shirt I originally picked out.

I had so much fun at these two races that I already have my eye on a couple more fun runs this year (specifically a mud run, a bubble run and another color run this summer!).

Have you ever done a fun run? If so what was your favorite? I'm always looking for more races to do!
